Jamie Campbell Bower of Camelot has said that his show is a “more modern” interpretation of the story of king Arthur.
He told an entertainment website that Camelot explores more humane sides of its characters, especially king Arthur and his wizard Merlin.
He said, “Our version is somewhat more modern than other retellings [of the legend]. We’re going for human emotions rather than having the pomp and circumstance of kings and queens already instilled in power.”
At the same time the actor is hopeful that viewers would find it easier to relate to the characters in this modern interpretation.
He said, “We find these [mythical] people as normal people so hopefully the audience will be able to invest in the characters.”
Bower also said that the series could explore Arthur’s teenage years too.
